The Thundering Cats Big Band will feature local jazz artists of all ages at a concert in McCain Auditorium on February 13 beginning at 7:30 pm. Following a day of clinics presented by members of the Thundering Cats, the Manhattan, Junction City, and Seaman high school jazz bands will perform as well as four local vocalists, Jamie Bunce, Brittany Taylor, Corbin Montenegro, and Anna Bajich.

The Thundering Cats will be performing a variety of pieces including an up-tempo version of ‘The Flintstones Theme,’ Brazil,’ originally recorded by Maynard Ferguson’s Big Bop Nouveau Band; and ‘A Little Minor Booze,’ originally recorded by Stan Kenton. Also featured will be Nate McClendon on Saxophone performing ‘Always and Forever,’ originally recorded by Pat Metheny; Paul Hunt on trombone performing ‘Outrageous Mother,’ originally recorded by Phil Wilson; and Robert Rodriguez performing ‘Sing, Sing, Sing,’ originally recorded by Benny Goodman.

*Each ticket will be $10 (plus $4 facility surcharge & taxes) in-person or by phone, or $10 (plus $4 facility surcharge, $5 internet service fee & taxes) online. Tickets are available online at mccain.k-state.edu or at the Ticket Office in the McCain lobby from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays. Tickets are also available by phone at 785-532-6428 during the same hours. Checks and all major credit cards are accepted for payment.

All earnings will benefit the McCain Auditorium’s education and outreach programming.
